Meet Michael Schwerin, Executive Director

Michael joined the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra as Executive Director in June of 2008. Prior to coming to the GJSO, Michael spent two years as Marketing Director for the Waterbury (CT) Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Schwerin has a short, but accomplished career in orchestra management, making an astounding impact on the orchestras he works with, including raising concert attendance, contributions and expanding educational programs for the organizations. Mr. Schwerin received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Minnesota, Morris. He studied both Music-Trumpet Performance and Mathematics while at Minnesota. Mr. Schwerin also has a Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas in Music Theory with a Secondary Emphasis on Music Education. While at UNT, he was the recipient of the Priddy Fellowship in Arts Leadership. Mr. Schwerin is a 2006 graduate of the League of American Orchestra’s Essentials of Orchestra Management course.
Besides being an accomplished trumpet player, Michael is also a vocalist in the Western Colorado Chorale. He resides in Clifton with his wife Brittany and daughter Rosalyn.
