he Grand Valley Children’s Choir, founded in 1991, provides an excellent resource for young students who are talented vocalists. Students in fourth, fifth and sixth grades get the chance to sing in harmony with a choir and perform throughout the year. This year, many students participated in the Children’s Choir and performed several times. In addition to performing, the students are trained with literature, vocal training and music reading.
Linda Koeman, Pam Scott, and Robin Streeter are the directors and founders of the GVCC. This year, the choir’s regular season was extended so that several choir members could participant in the Symphony’s performance of the masterwork Carmina burana.
Parents of children who show interest in participating in the choir next year should plan on attending a meeting at 7 p.m. on August 23 at Redlands Middle School. Information about the season and the auditions will be discussed at the meeting. Auditions for next season will be August 25. For more information, call Koeman at 243-6421. |
