Karen Combs
Karen Combs and her late husband Stephen Boelter shared a passion for supporting contemporary female composers and extending professional music into our Grand Valley schools through an artist-in-residence program. After hearing the dazzling, engaging percussionist Lisa Pegher at the “Best of the West” MSC program, they felt her talent should be shared with the broader GJSO audience. The Symphony thanks Karen and Stephen for their depth in underwriting the January 2010 concert that featured Lisa Pegher performing the Grammy award-winning composition Percussion Concerto by Jennifer Higdon. Local high school students loved the week-long residency that Ms. Pegher did in the schools, which their underwriting support made possible.
For the 34th Season, Karen has generously agreed to sponsor the performance A Monumental Celebration.
The Grand Junction Symphony thanks the Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture for underwriting the Classical Mystery Tour in February of 2010 and the Children’s and School Concerts in the Spring of 2010. The Commission is an 11 member board that is dedicated to developing and improving the quantity, quality, accessibility and affordability of arts and culture for the citizens of the Grand Valley. The City of Grand Junction won the Governor’s prestigious Strong Arts for Strong Communities Award in 2007.
The Grand Junction Symphony is a proud underwriter of William Tell & Cello. This marks the Foundation’s 6th season as a concert underwriter and the Symphony is honored by the Foundation’s continued participation and support. The Foundation is an excellent vehicle for legacy gifts that link donor’s names permanently with the organization.
The Symphony Guild conducts fundraisers to provide financial support for the Young Artist Competition, Children’s Concert, Concerts in the Classroom, Instrument Petting Zoo and Crystal Baton Competition. The Guild is again a concert underwriter for January 2012’s Romeo & Juliet. The Symphony is grateful to The Guild for their long-standing financial and volunteer support. Becoming a member of the Guild is a wonderful way to support music education for children and quality musical experiences for the entire community.
The Symphony is grateful for the continued support of Stephen and Naomi Smith of Grande River Vineyards Winery. Their award winning wines have been enjoyed at Symphony events for over a decade. Located at the Gateway to Colorado Wine Country, they invite you to visit them 7 days a week, just off of the I-70 Exit 42 on Grande River Drive in Palisade, CO.
